Ear Irrigation Training for Registered Nurses

The aim of the session is to ensure Registered Nurses have the theoretical knowledge in order for them to undertake ear irrigation safely.

Course Curriculum:

At the end of the training delegates will be able to:

  • Describe the normal anatomy of the ear
  • Recognise common ear abnormalities
  • Discuss the issues of accountability and delegation in relation to this procedure
  • Describe safe irrigation procedures
  • Identify appropriate irrigation equipment and its use
  • Identify problems and know when to refer
  • Observe & undertake simulated ear irrigation within the training session.
