Moving and Positioning of People Training

This course is designed for those who are working in areas where the assistance and movement of people is an essential part of their role. This qualification is in compliance with the recommendations of the HSE Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.

Course Curriculum:

Introductory Manual Handling Training
- (Regulations, guidelines, how and why we lift correctly, managers duties)
Lifting Safety
- (Assessing risk, individual movement, the spine, anatomy of an injury, when an accident occurs, slips/trips/falls, workstation and VDU safety)
Moving and Lifting Objects
- (Intro to box lifting, single person lift, two person lifting, working together, moving unusual objects, odd-shaped objects, pushing and pulling)
Moving and Positioning People
- (Moving & positioning people, childcare lifting technique, one person moving people manually, non-urgent person moving, urgent person moving)
Moving People with a Mechanical Device
- (discuss walking frames, wheelchairs, moving belts, hoists, slings, rotunda – Staff checked dependant on equipment used in their workplace)

Course Duration:

This course has a guidance training time of 4 hours plus practical conducted over a full day.

Certification:

Each student will gain a nationally recognised qualification valid for one year and a manual handling competency report.
