Infection Prevention & Control Training

The aim of the training is to raise awareness of how to reduce the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCI’s)

Course Curriculum

At the end of the training individuals will:

  • Have an awareness of blood-borne viruses & their spread
  • Have an awareness of standard infection control precautions
  • Be able to discuss the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Have an awareness of the safe handling & disposal of waste including sharps
  • Have an awareness of other practices that help to reduce the risk of HCAIs
  • Undertake a practical session to demonstrate the importance of hand hygiene (using a ‘glow & tell’ machine)
  • Be able to discuss the management of accidental exposure to blood-borne viruses
  • Be able to discuss the importance of communication regarding IPC with the patient and the public.
