Appointed Person in the Workplace First Aid

Businesses in the UK have to make correct provision for first aid in the workplace and the Appointed Persons course is ideal for small businesses as well as extra coverage in medium to large businesses. This course is taught under the guidelines of the HSE First Aid at Work Regulations 1981 and subsequent 2016 changes.

All our first aid courses fully meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015 as per the HSE requirements.

 

Course Curriculum:

  • Introduction
    • (Introduction to CPR BLS and AED, Optional basic life support practical or video link evaluation, Fears of first aid, Asking permission to help, Scene Safety, Chain of Survival, Introduction to the ABCDE Approach, ABCDE Approach to Patient Care, Barriers and Gloves, Respiration and Breathing, Pulse Points, Initial Assessment and the Recovery Position, Infant Recovery Position)
  • Introductory First Aid Training
    • (Fears of First Aid, Asking Permission to Help, Calling the EMS, Waiting for the EMS to arrive, Scene Safety, Chain of Survival, DRAB and ABCD’s, Barriers and Gloves, How to use face shields, Initial Assessment and the recovery position, BSi First Aid Kit)
  • Cardiac Arrest
    • (Adult CPR Introduction, Heart Attack, Adult CPR, CPR Hand Over, Compression Only CPR, AED, Drowning)
  • Choking Training
    • (Adult Choking, Treatment of Choking)
  • Bleeding Control
    • (Types of Bleeding, Serious Bleeding, Embedded Objects, Plasters, Other injuries, Minor Injuries)
  • Other medical conditions
    • (Shock, Dealing with fainting, Allergic Reaction and Anaphylaxis, Spinal Injury, Spinal recovery Position, Burns and Burns kits, Treating a burn, Treating a burn with cling film, Epilepsy, Adult Seizures)
  • Regulations and Summary
    • (First Aid at Work Rules and Regulations, The Accident Book, RIDDOR, Appointed Persons Summary)

 

Course Duration:

This course has a guidance training time of 4 hours, this is completed over a half day.

Certification:

Each student will gain an Appointed Persons in the Workplace First Aid qualification valid for 3 years.
